Training Opportunities

Training will be conducted by the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA) from the College of DuPage. This training is appropriate for law enforcement, educators, and community members interested in participating in an Internet safety speakers bureau.

These events were made possible by generous support from the Verizon Foundation and the United States Attorney's Office Southern District of Illinois.


 

Project NetWise will be hosting Internet safety training event for educators, law enforcement, and community members on June 2009. Participants will be i-SAFE certified and receive Internet safety resources, materials, and training. For additional information on these events and registration infomation click here.


 

Understanding the World of Electronic Media and Computer Crimes

This seminar is approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as (6) hours meeting the requirement of Public Training Act 94-354 Mandatory Training for Police Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs.

This interactive hands-on training program has been specifically designed for law enforcement executives and command staff who may be called upon to respond to questions from the media or other public groups concerning the criminal use of technology in the furtherance of Identity Theft, Cyber Stalking, Harassment and the targeting of children by sexual predators.

Through demonstration and the use of the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy's mobile computer lab, law enforcement professionals will gain a fundamental understanding of how the aforementioned crimes are committed along with learning general "best practice" crime prevention advice.
